Month-by-Month Care:
St. Augustine - Zoysia – Bermuda
January:
- Check your soil’s PH & correct if necessary.
- Inspect for winter damage.
February:
- Apply hi-yield turf week stopper to prevent weed seeds from germinating.
March:
- Apply Fertilome St. Augustine Weed & Feed to control weeds and give your lawn a spring green up.
- Apply Bug Blaster or hi-yield Turf Ranger to get a jump on lawn insects. (Now is the perfect time to feed trees, palms & shrubs with fertilizer.
April:
- When April brings its showers, consider lowering your irrigation times to prevent your lawn from being soaked constantly.
May:
- Feed your lawn with Fertilome Lawn Food + Iron.
- Apply fungicide to prevent lawn fungus problems before they start.
June:
- Apply a second feeding of fertilizer to trees, palms & shrubs.
July:
- Apply hi-yield Bug Blaster to treat mole crickets, fire ants, fleas & chinch bugs.
August:
- Time to control lawn fungus with fungicide.
September:
- This time of the year is when lawn problems peak! You can apply Fertilome Weed & Feed as well as Bug Blaster or Turf Ranger as needed to prevent further problems.
October:
- As temperatures fall, consider applying a Winterizer as the last feeding for the year. A Winterizer protects your lawn from cold & frost damage.
November:
- Apply a final treatment of Bug Blaster to protect your lawn until spring.
December:
- Let your lawn rest & perhaps go dormant, depending on your grass type.
