FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

When will my order be delivered?

We schedule delivery orders a few days in advance, but please note that we’re unable to guarantee an exact delivery time. Deliveries are made between 7 AM and 7 PM, with timing based on your location along the driver’s route for that day. On your scheduled delivery date, you’ll receive a text message with an estimated time of arrival, typically within a 2-hour window.

Can you deliver sod to my backyard?

Our standard delivery is curbside, typically on the grass beside your driveway. If you'd like the sod placed elsewhere on your property, a signed delivery liability waiver is required to allow our equipment access. For our equipment to place a pallet inside of a gate or fence, we need at least 10 feet of clearance space. Please note: we are unable to deliver directly onto pavers, even with a signed waiver.

How much square footage does a pallet cover?

Each pallet covers between 400 and 450 square feet, depending on the sod variety. Our most common pallet size is 450 square feet, which includes 170 pieces.

Do you offer installation services?

We offer installation services for projects requiring multiple pallets, but an in-person visit is needed to assess the scope before we can provide a quote.

The Sod Lot provides free estimates— just contact your local store to schedule a visit.

I need less than a pallet. Do you offer smaller quantities?

We only offer delivery for full pallets. Orders smaller than a full pallet must be picked up in-store. We typically have St. Augustine varieties available by the piece, and occasionally Zoysia, depending on each store’s stock and availability.

Can I return or exchange unused sod?

Because sod is a living product with a limited shelf life, we’re unable to accept returns once it leaves our facility. To avoid over-ordering, we recommend measuring your project area beforehand. If you have any concerns about the quality of your sod, please contact the store location where you made your purchase—we’re happy to help.

Why is sod more popular than seed in Florida?

Sod is a popular choice in our area for several reasons, particularly given Florida’s unique climate. It delivers instant results with an already-established root system, while grass seed can take weeks or even months to establish—and often fails under the intense Florida sun. During the rainy spring season, sod also offers better erosion control. Additionally, many premium Florida grass varieties, such as St. Augustine, aren't available in seed form—sod is the only way to get these high-quality, Florida-proven grasses.

Do you sell anything besides sod?

We carry a great selection of lawn care products available for in-store pickup. Stop by your local Sod Lot to browse our offerings. Please note, delivery is only available for full pallets of sod at this time.
